I had no idea pumpkin carving experts were even a thing…

But, before you head to grab a pumpkin for carving you should know that Pumpkin Carving Experts Say You’ve Been Carving Your Pumpkin Wrong Your Entire Life.

Let me ask you this – how do you normally carve your pumpkin?

My guess is, you (along with everyone else) have been carving your pumpkin by cutting the top open to create a lid, scooping out the pumpkin guts then carving the outside, right?

Well, according to those experts, that is the WRONG way to do it. Truthfully, my mind is blown. How did I not think of this before?

Michael Natiello is a pumpkin carving pro and creative director for The Great Jack-o’-Lantern Blaze who says cutting your “lid” from the bottom of the pumpkin helps prevent the sides from caving in later.

Michael is the guy that would know because after all, his full-time job is carving out amazing designs in pumpkins. So, yeah I do trust his judgment.

Also, upon looking online, this seems to be a little known secret – it not only helps the pumpkin keep from caving in, it also helps the pumpkin last longer and makes it easier to stick a candle or light inside to illuminate the pumpkin.

So, this year, carve from the bottom and your entire life will be changed forever!
