You guys!! I cannot contain my excitement…

It has been confirmed that Rick Moranis Is Coming Out of Retirement For A ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ Reboot!

This is HUGE.

Just the other day my husband and I were talking and he mentioned that Rick Moranis had left the acting world to take care of his kids after his wife Anne, died of cancer in February 1991.

I had no idea.

I will say, I have completely missed him. I loved him in the Honey. I Shrunk The Kids movies and I really LOVED him in The Little Shop of Horrors.

So, as far as a Honey, I Shrunk The Kids reboot, I am ALL IN.

It was rumors until Josh Gad (director) confirmed it by posting on Instagram:

The rumors are, that Rick Moranis would come back as Wayne Szalinski, the eccentric inventor in a reboot that is said to be a theatrical release.

According to DisneyInsider the pitch has already been made to him by the studio, here is what the movie is supposed to be based on:

Aware that the family ties have loosened over time but seemingly afraid to confront anyone directly. He has been tinkering alone in his attic for decades, dealing with the grief of losing his wife. When we first meet him, he has accidentally shrunk himself and is flying around on a shrunken drone — seemingly lost in a continuous of tinkering and experimenting that often puts himself and his family in jeopardy. He later reveals he shut himself away to try and invent a solution to help shrink Diane’s cancer but found it hard to cope when he ran out of time. His guilt and shame is palpable. Through the crisis of the kids getting shrunk, the truth emerges and the bonds begin to redevelop between him and his kids.

The film is set to start shooting in spring of 2020 in Toronto or Atlanta. The film currently has no release date but it will, in fact, be a theatrical release, not Disney+.

All I can say is, I am really excited. I can’t wait to see Rick Moranis make a comeback. We miss him!
