Sister Schubert’s Sausage Wrap Rolls are back, which is good news for anyone who has been looking for the little sausage-in-a-roll version since it disappeared.
Parent company Marzetti says the rolls were discontinued in 2021 and are now returning to grocery stores across the South. The company announced the comeback on September 8, ahead of the holiday season.
These are the small sausages wrapped in Parker House-style rolls. Simple enough. Apparently, also difficult to replace if they were part of your holiday breakfast.
Where the rollout started
Marzetti’s announcement names Publix as the first place to find the returning rolls, with regional distribution to Walmart, Food Lion and Kroger planned for later in the fall.
That is a regional rollout, not a promise that every location of those chains already has them. Check your store’s current listing before making a dedicated freezer-aisle trip.
The company says each pan contains 16 Sausage Wrap Rolls. The current product page identifies the filling as smoked cocktail franks made with pork and chicken, and lists egg, milk and wheat among the allergens.
Give them enough oven time
The preparation detail worth knowing before a brunch crowd arrives is that freezer-to-oven does not mean ready in ten minutes.
Sister Schubert’s current directions call for a 375°F oven, removing the plastic, covering loosely with foil and baking on the middle rack for 48–52 minutes from frozen. Its directions for thawed rolls list 38–40 minutes at the same temperature.
Use the directions on the package you buy, since the brand notes that product information can change. Either way, put the pan on the breakfast schedule before everyone is standing in the kitchen asking when the food will be ready.
