Protein drinks have officially entered their rhinestone era.
Smoothie King launched the Pretty, Pretty Protein Smoothie on October 7, and select participating locations are serving it in a limited-edition rhinestone-covered cup while supplies last.
So yes: it is a protein smoothie in a bedazzled cup. We have reached the logical conclusion of two completely different internet trends.
The smoothie has 47 grams of protein
The 20-ounce strawberry-and-banana smoothie delivers 47 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and zero grams of added sugar, according to Smoothie King.
The bedazzled cup is the part people are probably going to post, though. At participating locations, customers who order the Pretty, Pretty Protein Smoothie can get the rhinestone-covered cup free while supplies last.
There is also a $25 gift card promotion
Smoothie King is running a social giveaway alongside the launch. Eligible customers can buy the smoothie in-store or through the drive-thru, post a public photo or video on Instagram or TikTok, tag @SmoothieKing and use #prettyprettyprotein.
The first 500 eligible guests whose posts are verified can receive a $25 Smoothie King gift card. The promotion is limited to legal residents of the 50 U.S. states and D.C. who are 18 or older, and the company says additional terms apply.
You have to buy this one in person
The cup promotion is for in-store and drive-thru purchases at participating locations. Smoothie King says it is not available through order-ahead, online ordering or third-party delivery.
And because the rhinestone cups are limited, a location can run out before the overall social giveaway reaches 500 gift cards.
Basically: if the sparkly cup is the reason you want this, call or check with the location before driving across town. Forty-seven grams of protein is useful. A completely unnecessary rhinestone cup is useful in a different, emotionally important way.
