Starbucks says approximately 250 of its North American coffeehouses will close later this week. The announcement is dated September 24, 2026, and it does not include a list of affected stores.

What Starbucks has confirmed
In a statement from chief operating officer Mike Grams, Starbucks says the locations were identified through a review of its North American portfolio. The company cites stores where it does not see a path to acceptable financial performance or the customer and employee experience it wants.
Starbucks describes the closures as approximately 1% of its more than 18,000 North American coffeehouses. It says affected employees will receive support, including transfer opportunities where possible and severance for those it cannot place elsewhere.
Is there a store-by-store closure list?
Not in this announcement. It also does not give one specific closing date for every affected location beyond “later this week.”
Before changing your coffee plans, look for a notice from your actual store or ask that location directly. A screenshot naming another city—or an old closure article—is not confirmation about your neighborhood coffeehouse.
