If you’re hunting for Starbucks’ gold gift card, ask a barista for the holiday metal keychain gift card in the white envelope. The card itself is tucked out of sight. And yes, you’ll want to know the number before you get to the register. The Starbucks counter sign says “Minimum load of $50.” That $50 goes onto the card to spend.

What to look for at Starbucks

From the front, it looks like a white envelope with a green Starbucks siren. Inside, a green holder has a spot for a little gold-colored metal card stamped with the siren and a separate slot for its matching ring. The close-ups come from Agostino Baseballs’ photos of the packaging.

One shopper in the Starbucks 2.0 Facebook group said she checked the regular gift card rack and finally spotted the big white envelope at her third store. Save yourself the three-stop tour. Call your local Starbucks and ask, “Do you still have the gold metal gift card that goes on a key ring?” The holiday display describes it as limited in quantity.

What does the $50 get you?

You can see the amount on the red Starbucks display sign photographed by u/natural05. Look just above the row of white envelopes. The shopper shared the photo on November 5 after finding the card at their store.

Load $50 at the register and you have $50 in Starbucks credit. Under Starbucks’ card terms, the money you load pays for purchases at participating stores. If you’ve already picked out a holiday mug, have the barista load the card first. Then you can pay for the mug with the balance and still take the little gold card home.

Do you need Starbucks Rewards Gold status?

No. This is a holiday gift card you can ask for at the counter. Gold status in Starbucks Rewards is a separate perk you earn by collecting 500 Stars in a 12-month period. Buying the gold-colored card doesn’t move your account to Gold.
