Okay, so yesterday we were all staring at “Patient Zero” trying to figure out whether Taylor Swift had just kicked open the door to TS13.
Apparently: not quite.
Taylor just announced The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded version of The Life of a Showgirl with four brand-new songs, and it is coming out Friday, September 25.
Which also means the giant Patient Zero mystery from yesterday just got a very real answer.
The four new songs on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore
The new tracks are:
- Patient Zero
- Cleveland!
- Pink Clouding
- Babylon
So yes: Patient Zero is officially part of the Showgirl world.
If you were here yesterday, we went fully down the rabbit hole trying to figure out what Taylor was doing with the black-and-white artwork, the zeroes, the 12 exclamation points, and that old “patient for the encore” clue. You can read all of our Patient Zero theories here.
And honestly? The “encore” clue was doing a LOT more work than we realized.
Taylor says the new songs came from a trip to Sweden
In her announcement, Taylor explained that after The Life of a Showgirl had its enormous first week, she traveled to Sweden with Max Martin and Shellback to celebrate and take in what had happened.
There was also a studio there.
And because this is Taylor Swift we are talking about, apparently nobody was ever going to just sit around and have a nice little celebratory dinner.
They wrote more songs.
Taylor said the new tracks came out of that gratitude for the way fans embraced the album, and now all four are being added to The Encore.
So what happened to all those Patient Zero theories?
Some of them just got answered.
Patient Zero is not a random standalone song. It belongs to The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.
The darker visual shift still makes the whole thing interesting, though. Yesterday’s artwork felt so different from the glittery orange Showgirl era that it made the song look like the beginning of something completely new.
Now we know it is connected — but we still do not know what the song itself sounds like, what the lyrics are about, or why Taylor chose to reveal Patient Zero separately before announcing the full Encore.
Which, obviously, means there is still plenty to overthink.
And “Cleveland!” is already going to cause chaos
I mean.
Cleveland!
With an exclamation point.
There is absolutely no universe in which Swifties are going to calmly wait until Friday before trying to decode that one.
Pink Clouding and Babylon are going to get the same treatment, especially because Taylor has now made it very clear that these songs were written after the original album was already finished.
That gives us a completely different timeline to work with.
When does The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore come out?
The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore is out Friday, September 25. Taylor’s official pre-save page is already live.
So basically we have two days to finish all of our theories before Taylor hands us four actual songs and ruins at least 90 percent of them.
