Thirty-six years after Ghostbusters showed up in theaters, we are FINALLY getting a sequel! Well, I mean AGAIN. There was a Ghostbusters II in 1989, but now we are getting a SEQUEL TO THE SEQUEL!

It is named Ghostbuster: Afterlife, and it focuses on the the grandkids of Dr. Egon Spengler.

Can I just tell you how crazy-excited I am about this sequel!! It has a STELLAR cast.

According to IMDB, this film welcomes to the cast Paul Rudd, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson, just to name a few!

The film has been pretty hush-hush so far, as in Finn Wolfhard didn’t even know what movie he was auditioning for!

We can, however, gather a few things from the trailer. Dr. Egon Spengler’s daughter and grandkids have to move into his creepy AF old farmhouse in Summerville, which is out in the middle of absolutely nowhere, after they are unexpectedly forced out of their residence due to — well — being broke.

This city is pretty special, in that NOBODY can explain why it has earthquakes all day long — even though it is nowhere near a fault line.

Right about the same time we learn about the earthquakes, we also learn that the kids have found a couple gems hidden inside the house — like this authentic ghost catcher, some old Ghostbuster suits, and an old car with the license plate ECTO-1.

We also learn that the kids know NOTHING of what went down in New York in the 1980s — you know, the whole Ghostbustbusting thing.

There are so many nods to the original movie, I can’t hardly take the excitement! There are of course the car, the suits, the ghost catcher, and we even see a ghost that sorta looks like Slimer from the original movie.

Die-hard Ghostbuster fans will catch a ton of little Easter Eggs in the trailer, which can be seen below. What else can you see that is a nod to the original?

This film hits theaters in July of 2020, and the theater may as well just take my money NOW! I’ll be at the first showing on opening day!
