Tim Burton Wants Johnny Depp To Play Gomez Addams In His Reboot Of ‘The Addams Family’
OMG!! I don’t know what I’m more excited about — that Tim Burton wants to bring The Addams Family back to episodic television, or that he wants Johnny Depp to play the part of Gomez Addams. *Squee*
How freaking perfect is that?!?
Tim Burton is just the perfect blend of quirky, cooky, and just a little creepy to pull off the PERFECT remake of the beloved TV show, and it really is NO surprise that he wants to tap Johnny Depp for the part.
They have collaborated together on SO many dark and quirky films — like Edwards Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In fact — at least in MY world — the names Tim Burton and Johnny Depp just tend to go together, kinda like peas and carrots.
According to Small Screen, Netflix has already picked up The Addams Family, and they say sources are telling them “It’s full steam ahead on Netflix’s The Addams Family. Tim Burton wants Johnny Depp to play Gomez Addams. He thinks he would do the role justice.”
I don’t know about you, but this news makes me just a little bit giddy!!
While there has been NO official confirmation that Tim Burton is courting Johnny Depp to play the role of Gomez Addams, we are all crossing our fingers and toes that it will happen.
Depp was just replaced by Mads Mikkelsen for his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series. Johnny Depp announced the news on his Instagram page back in November.
The news of his resignation comes just after Depp lost his legal battle with a British tabloid paper. No word on whether this incident sparked the resignation.
But, there couldn’t be a BETTER time for him to take on the role of Gomez Addams, AMIRITE?!?
