It’s official! Walmart is now joining the growing list of stores that will require customers to wear face masks while shopping.

Walmart just announced today that they will begin requiring face masks in all of their stores nationwide. The policy will take effect on Monday, July 20, 2020.

In the announcement, Walmart stated:

“To help bring consistency across stores and clubs, we will require all shoppers to wear a face covering starting Monday, July 20,” Walmart US chief operating officer Dacona Smith and Sam’s Club chief operating officer Lance De La Rosa said in a blog post Wednesday. “This will give us time to inform customers and members of the changes, post signage and train associates on the new protocols.”

Walmart currently has more than 5,000 locations nationwide including Sam’s Club locations. So, this is a big deal to see such a big retailer get on board with masks!

I actually like this idea. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen people just not wearing masks. Trust me, it won’t kill you to wear a mask for an hour as you shop.

What happens if you don’t want to wear a mask? Well, then you may not be allowed to shop. You also have the ability to order your groceries and other items online and pick up using the car pickup feature.

  1. This is not true anymore. Since they do not require masks, Walmart has become my favorite store. It is so nice to be back to ‘normal’ at Walmart. Keep up the great work.
