Walton Goggins is playing Ebenezer Scrooge alongside the Muppets in a new Walmart Christmas advertisement. Yes, this particular Christmas reunion comes with a shopping cart.

The campaign is called A Who Knew Carol, and Walmart announced it on October 26, 2026. It takes its inspiration from The Muppet Christmas Carol, but this is a holiday ad—not an announcement of a new feature film or a sequel.

Who’s in A Who Knew Carol?

Goggins plays Scrooge, while Stephanie Beatriz plays his niece. Walmart’s official announcement also names Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, The Great Gonzo, Rizzo the Rat and Pepé the King Prawn.

That is quite a group to put on Scrooge duty. And for anyone who saw “new Scrooge” and immediately had questions: Goggins is taking the role in this advertisement, not replacing anyone in the original movie.

Where to watch the official ad

Walmart links to the official A Who Knew Carol video in its announcement. You can watch it on YouTube.

The retailer says this opening ad will be followed by more videos and social content during the holiday season. That’s a campaign rollout, not a movie release schedule.

If you’re here for the Muppets rather than a sale calendar, the official video above is the place to start. The cast list alone is a very specific kind of holiday chaos.
