Wendy’s made an emo album.
Not an AI joke. Not a fake playlist screenshot. An actual six-track project called Songs to Listen to in a Wendy’s Parking Lot, made with real musicians and released on major streaming platforms.
Honestly, if you came of age listening to sad guitars in a parking lot while somebody ate your fries, the branding is alarmingly specific.
The song titles are ridiculous in exactly the right way
The six-track album includes “She Said She Didn’t Want Fries,” “Salt in the Wound,” “I Miss the Sunroom,” “The Best Combo Meal on the Worst Night of My Life,” “It’s Not a Phase, It’s a 10PC,” and “My Frosty’s Funeral.”
Wendy’s partnered with producer Matt Squire and performers from bands including Memphis May Fire, Silverstein, Blessthefall and State Champs.
Wendy’s says the album was made by real musicians
The company specifically says the project was made by real musicians rather than generated by AI. That detail matters because “fast-food chain releases an emo album” already sounds enough like something the internet would invent on a Tuesday afternoon.
The album officially dropped September 23 on Spotify and other major streaming platforms.
This is apparently not Wendy’s first musical era
Wendy’s also released the hip-hop mixtape We Beefin’? back in 2018, so apparently the redhead has range.
