9 to 5 is returning to theaters from October 9 through October 15, 2026, giving Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin one more week to make a terrible boss everyone’s problem.
There’s a lovely reason to go beyond the movie itself: Disney’s net proceeds from U.S. ticket sales will help support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Disney says the comedy has been restored for this limited theatrical run from 20th Century Studios. Tickets are already on sale.
If you haven’t seen it, here’s the setup. Three women working in the same office team up against the boss who’s making their lives miserable. Fonda, Tomlin and Parton are the trio doing the plotting.
A workplace comedy where the employees finally get to turn the tables? There’s some very durable appeal there.
Here’s how the ticket donation works
The official ticket listing explains that Disney will give its net U.S. ticket proceeds to CAF America, which will grant the money to The Dollywood Foundation to support Imagination Library.
The word “net” matters. The donation is calculated after the theater’s share and the listed distribution, marketing and administrative costs are deducted. It isn’t a donation of the full amount you pay at checkout.
Check your theater before making plans
You can look for local showtimes on Fandango. Check the actual dates and prices at your theater rather than assuming every location has the same schedule.
And if the book program is new to you, Imagination Library mails free books to children from birth to age five in participating communities. Its website has an availability checker so families can see whether they can register where they live.
