Amazon Prime Is Rebooting ‘A League Of Their Own’ And Turning It Into A Series. Here’s What We Know.
There’s no crying in baseball, and there are definitely no tears about this exciting news from the world of Amazon.
A League of Their Own — only one of the BEST movies ever to be made — is getting a reboot of sorts.
Amazon has green-lighted a series, based on the movie, that will star Abbi Jacobson, who you might know from her stints on MULTIPLE television shows.
Abbi will be that face that makes you say, “Where do I know her from?” And, the answer is, you know her from A LOT of little things.
But, now, she is starring in this GIANT reboot of the classic film that was directed by Penny Marshall, and starred Tom Hanks, Rosie O’Donnell, Madonna, and Geena Davis.
(This show) will have the spirit of Penny Marshall’s beloved movie while expanding its lens to explore race and sexuality as the series follows a new ensemble of women carving out their own paths in the league and outside of it.

If you don’t know the premise of the movie — and now the show — Major League Baseball, America’s favorite pastime, was in fear of being shut down as all the players were being sent to help fight in World War II.
This is when the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League was formed, and women started to play the game in lieu of the men that were at war.
This is something that actually factually happened, and the series will be a take on the movie, and these actual events.
No word yet on when A League of Their Own will premier, but we will keep you updated as we learn more.
Until this Ah-Mazing show drops, you might be wondering what else there is to watch on Amazon Prime — because you have blown through every movie and show that you can think of in the last 4 months.
