Updated October 21, 2026, with Disney+ streaming availability.
The live-action Moana has made it from the theater to the couch. Disney’s 2026 movie is now streaming on Disney+, with Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson back as Maui.
If you’ve been waiting to make this one a movie night at home, you can stop checking release-date rumors. Disney confirmed the movie is streaming in its October 21 update.
Where can you watch the live-action Moana?
You can find it on Disney+ as Moana (2026). Look for the year when you search so you don’t accidentally start the animated original or Moana 2.
This is the live-action retelling of Moana’s voyage beyond Motunui, where she meets Maui. The film opened in theaters on July 10, 2026; its streaming release is the latest step.
Is The Rock still Maui?
Yes. Dwayne Johnson plays Maui, the character he voiced in the animated movies. Catherine Lagaʻaia takes on Moana, and Thomas Kail directs.
Auliʻi Cravalho, the original voice of Moana, is an executive producer. She also performs the new song “Along The Way” with Lagaʻaia and Johnson.
What if you want the animated Moana instead?
Disney+ also has Moana (2016) and Moana 2. So whether you’re curious about the live-action version or just want the familiar animated adventure, the year on the title page is the detail to check.
