Twenty years after Return to Halloweentown, there’s movement on another trip to Marnie’s world.
A fifth Halloweentown movie is in early development at Disney Channel and Disney+, TheWrap reported on October 22. Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn are developing the script.
Who would play Marnie?
That’s still an open question. TheWrap says it’s unclear whether Kimberly J. Brown or Sara Paxton will return.
Brown played Marnie in the first three films: Halloweentown, Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge and Halloweentown High. Paxton took over for Return to Halloweentown in 2006, so a fifth movie raises a casting question beyond simply getting the old gang back together.
Where the last movie left things
The original Halloweentown arrived in 1998. By the fourth movie, Marnie and her brother Dylan were enrolling at Witch University, according to Disney’s official synopsis.
That’s the existing story to catch up on. TheWrap’s new report doesn’t include a plot or release date for the potential fifth film.
