What is aura photography?
The term gets used for a few different setups. Some modern aura-photo experiences combine a portrait with sensors and software that assign colors around the person. Kirlian photography is an older technique involving high voltage and photographic material that produces a visible corona or discharge around an object.
Those images can look extremely mystical. Physics can also look extremely mystical when you give it dramatic lighting.
Does Kirlian photography prove auras exist?
No.
ABC Science explains the glow as a corona plasma discharge produced by high-voltage, high-frequency electricity, with moisture affecting the visible effect. That gives the photograph a physical mechanism without requiring the camera to have measured a spiritual field.
WebMD likewise says there is no good scientific evidence supporting claims that Kirlian images can diagnose disease.
So what does an aura photo mean spiritually?
That depends on the reader or studio.
In a spiritual setting, colors may be interpreted using familiar aura themes: red for energy, yellow for confidence, green for compassion, blue for communication, purple for intuition, and so on.
Think of the interpretation the same way you might use a tarot spread or journaling prompt: as a structured way to notice what resonates, not as hidden data about your body.

Can aura photography diagnose your health?
No. Do not use it that way.
A colorful image should not decide whether you have an illness, whether a treatment is working, whether somebody else is healthy, or whether you need professional care.
If you are worried about an actual health symptom, use actual health information.
Why do people still love aura photos?
Because they are gorgeous. Because they turn an abstract spiritual idea into something visual. Because getting one taken can feel like a little ritual. Because sometimes a picture gives you language for something you were already thinking about.
None of that requires pretending the camera secretly became a supernatural MRI.
