Apparently, opening a little cardboard door was not enough. Now we have to solve something.

Uncommon Goods has a Christmas Mystery Advent Calendar for $50 that turns the countdown into a 24-day escape-room-style adventure. Each day brings another riddle or puzzle and another part of the holiday story.

A little mystery each day

The retailer says it is designed for one to five players, ages 10 and up, with approximately 10 to 15 minutes of puzzles a day. The set includes a storybook, help book, decoder strips, riddle cards and themed game pieces. Even the packaging becomes part of the game.

That sounds like a fun fit for a household that actually enjoys figuring things out together. For the family where choosing a movie already becomes a negotiation, consider whether adding a daily group puzzle is your best December decision.

There are hints when you get stuck

The calendar includes tiered hints, so the countdown does not have to stop because nobody can crack Tuesday’s clue. I appreciate that in theory; we have not played through the puzzles, so I cannot tell you how difficult they feel.

The product has small parts and is not for children under three. Check the current delivery estimate for your address before ordering.

Price and product details checked October 8, 2026 against the retailer’s listing. This is a currently listed holiday calendar, not a confirmed new 2026 edition.

If your person would rather find a clue than another tiny chocolate, December just got a little more interesting.
