Deconstructed Cheddar and Salted Caramel Apples
Every year in the high end grocery stores around here, I can find caramel apple pies that have cheddar baked into and onto the crust. If you’ve never tried it, lemme tell you…it’s amazing. Salty, sweet, gooey caramel mixed with apple amazingness…definitely a favorite pie for me. Today I wanted to bring you a taste of that, but with a caramel apple twist: these Deconstructed Cheddar and Salted Caramel Apples will give you a tiny glimpse into the amazing pie that comes out each fall, and give you a gorgeous hor d’oeuvres for when your friends come to visit. What You Need To Make Deconstructed Cheddar and Salted Caramel Apples:
- 1 Granny Smith Apples
- 1 Pink Lady Apple or any variety of red baking apple
- 1 Package of Block Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 1 thin wooden Kabob Stick
- Caramel Sauce
- Kosher Salt or Sea Salt
How To Make Deconstructed Cheddar and Salted Caramel Apples:
Rinse and dry apples, remove stem and insert Popsicle stick.
Use small canape plates.
Slice block cheese into 1 inch squares, set aside.
Slice apples into wedges, set aside.
Slid cheese onto a kabob stick and add a green wedge of apple, then another cheese square then a red apple wedge.
Keep alternating ingredients until you have the desired amount.
Stand kabob on end and drizzle with caramel and sprinkle with course Kosher or Sea salt.
