A Moana-inspired Grand Hall on a Disney cruise ship? That is a pretty compelling reason to keep an eye on Disney Believe.
The new ship is planned to sail in late 2027, and Disney’s September 18 update gives us something more concrete than a rendering: a real piece of the ship coming out of the shipyard.
What the new Disney Believe photo actually shows
According to Disney Cruise Line’s official update, the first of three large ship sections, called gigablocks, has been completed and floated out at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. This is the middle section, which includes the Grand Hall. The forward and aft sections come later.
In other words, you are looking at a construction milestone—not a finished cruise ship ready to welcome guests. That distinction matters if the photo has you mentally packing a suitcase.
The Disney details already announced
The planned Grand Hall takes its inspiration from Moana, including a bronze statue featuring Moana, Pua and Heihei. Woody and Buzz Lightyear are the characters chosen for the stern sculptures, while Tinker Bell appears in the bow design.
Disney has also named Encanto, Frozen, Snow White, Moana and The Little Mermaid among the stories inspiring onboard venues and entertainment.
What to wait for before planning around it
The announcement reviewed here gives a late-2027 sailing window, but not a booking-opening date, itinerary or price. Treat this as a first look, not a trip you can price from this announcement.
For a family choosing between a new ship and a particular destination, those missing details are the useful next checkpoint. A character-filled lobby is fun; the sailing dates, departure port and total trip cost are what will tell you whether it fits your vacation.
