If you want a Disney cruise out of San Diego, the first question is surprisingly simple: how many nights can you actually take off?
Disney’s current California sailing guide covers trips from fall 2026 through spring 2028. There are short Baja getaways, longer Mexican Riviera trips and two much bigger Panama Canal voyages. Those are very different vacations, even though they all begin in San Diego.
For a shorter trip, compare the stops
The three- and four-night Baja choices include Ensenada, Mexico; some also stop at Catalina Island. If getting home after a few nights is the priority, start with these rather than a weeklong route. Check the individual sailing before assuming you will get both ports: an Ensenada-only itinerary and one that also visits Catalina are separate choices.
Disney’s guide shows Halloween on the High Seas options in the fall and Very Merrytime options later in the year. Pick the date and route together if a seasonal sailing is the point of your trip.
For more Mexico, allow five to seven nights
Some five- and six-night itineraries include Cabo San Lucas. Seven-night Mexican Riviera routes can also include Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlán. That is the useful tradeoff: extra sea days and more distant ports take more vacation time. A particular port is never guaranteed across every sailing of the same length, so read the exact route before falling for a generic “Mexican Riviera” label.
The Panama Canal trips are a different commitment
The two 14-night Disney Magic voyages Disney lists for November 2026 and November 2027 are eastbound, one-way journeys ending in Galveston, Texas. The 2026 route includes George Town, Grand Cayman; the 2027 route instead includes Fuerte Amador, Panama. Both pass through the Panama Canal and call at Cartagena, Colombia.
That changes the travel math. You would need to plan transportation home from Texas, in addition to getting to San Diego. It is a different choice from a short Baja sailing, even before you compare fares.

Use Disney’s live sailing search to check the exact ship, ports, date, stateroom availability and price. The itinerary overview is useful for narrowing your options; it does not establish that a particular fare or cabin is still available.
