Okay, this post has a huge spoiler. Ready? Ali showed up on Cobra Kai, and that *SQUEE* you heard? That was me.

Y’all, The Karate Kid pretty much defined my childhood (well, among other classic 80s movies), and when they announced Cobra Kai was going to be a thing, the first thing I wanted to know — will Ali be in the show??

By ‘Ali’, I am talking about Elisabeth Shue, the actress who played Ali in The OG Karate Kid.

She joined the cast for, not one, but TWO episodes this season, and now all is right with the world.

How in the world did this reunion happen?

Entertainment Weekly had a sit-down with the actress to talk about her return to the world of The Karate Kid.

To be honest, I really hadn’t thought about being on Cobra Kai. When I showed up on the set [of The Boys] for the first day, Dan (director of The Boys) came right over and said, “You’re doing Cobra Kai, right?” I was like, “What? I don’t know… Do you think that’s a good idea?” He goes, “Is that a good idea? You have to be on Cobra Kai!”

Then I sat down with the three producers and writers who created it, Jon [Hurwitz], Josh [Heald], and Hayden [Schlossberg], and they were so lovely and similar to Dan — super Karate Kid fans. They really wanted to wait and have Ali come back this season, primarily I guess because it’s a reunion season. I said, “I’ll do whatever you need.”

She went on to say that she watched the entire first season of the show — I’m betting she binge watched it like the rest of us!!

Elisabeth was impressed with the characters and the writing, and she was willing to do whatever it took to be a part of the show.

While she was doing press for her movie, The Boys, she was asked OFTEN if she was ever going to make an appearance on Cobra Kai. Of course, her return was a secret, so she couldn’t really answer the question. Ha!

I wish I could have been there for the reunion of Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, and Ali — I mean Elisabeth Shue. She said it was like a high school reunion, where they just laughed together and talked about the old times.

I’m so incredibly giddy that Elisabeth Shue’s character showed back up in the Karate Kid world! We have had so many cast reunions during the show, it just now seems complete with the appearance of Ali!

What do YOU think? Were you surprised? Did you love it??
