    1. Yes. I made them with Bobs 1:1 gluten free flour. Like some other cooks, I reduced salt to 3/4 tsp, and sugar to 1 tsp. Husband gave these an A+! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

These were good but I feel there was too much salt. I will make them again but I will cut back on the salt.

    1. Exactly what I thought. Maybe a bit too much sugar too.

  5. Would it work to bake/broil these instead of frying?

  6. I just made these for our Saturday night friends dinner. Made them ahead and will reward. They are so yummy. My friends are going to flip. I made them with plant based milk because we are vegan. Also used some green onion too. For those asking how many the recipe makes, 8-10 using a quarter cup scoop. I doubled the recipe and got 19. I will most certainly be making these again.

Not sure if it’s possible, but have you thought of using an onion ring to hold the patty. Yum. Can’t wait to try. Love your recipe

  8. So good! When I pulled the ingredients together, I realized I was missing corn meal. I prefer to use gluten free flour so I can share with my gf family and friends so I substituted garbanzo flour. I added just a dash or two of garlic powder. I will make these again, especially since my onions are growing extra large this year.

  9. Been making onion as I call them fritters for years. But why oh why do you want to put sugar in them.

  10. GUUUUURLLLL, I know what you mean about fried. I will have to try this. I make corn fritters with corn, cheese and jalapenos. This will be perfect with all my country cooking. Thank you!

  11. Are the pictures of patties you made dropped by tablespoon? They seem much, much bigger.

  12. About how many does this make? Thanks for the recipe, sounds like my new favorite!

  13. If you want a great burger, make them a little larger and slice them open (like a bagel) and use it for the hamburger bun in your next backyard barbecue. Even better, toast the two sides (inside portion) on the grill before filling with your hamburger! Growing up we called these onion fritters and often used them for bread, especially lunch and dinner. Mouth-watering goodness!

    1. Try substituting Panko Bread Crumbs – haven’t done it but seems like a logical substitute for the extra crunchiness.

  14. Looks great, reminds me of First Nations and their fried bread (real close, just add onions) Thanks for the idea, always fun to do something new
