I’m Angry Schools Are Even Reopening Right Now

At this point, my anxiety over the school year has officially turned into anger.

Ever since summer started all I could think about was how things were going to happen once the new school year came. Now that we are here, I am angry.

I am angry that so many are rushing to throw our kids into school when we are in another peak of the pandemic.

I’m angry our kids are going to be guinea pigs in some awful, poorly thought out experiment (not by the teachers by any means).

I am angry that people are okay with further spreading this virus which inevitably means more deaths.

I am angry that our teachers and faculty staff are being put in this position where they have parents on both sides angry, concerned and fearful for their kids.

How is this okay?

Now, if you are here to tell me this pandemic is fake or over exaggerated, you can just hold your breath. I don’t care what you have to say.

Why? Because one death should have been enough. 10 deaths should have been enough. But here we are and now we are willing to risk the lives of children. I just can’t.

Stop your selfishness and stop acting like these human beings don’t matter because they do.

While I agree our kids need education, they also deserve to have that in a safe place. School should always be a safe place and throwing them back into a box where everyone is breathing the same air, during a pandemic, where many of them are not vaccinated, is not safe.

Again, school is IMPORTANT and kids need education just not in person RIGHT NOW.

And if you really believe they need to be in person, then bring back the social distancing, mask mandates and other protocols to keep them safe.

I truly fear what is to come if schools continue to open here in the U.S. over the next few weeks.

Schools that have already opened are seeing staff and children getting sick. I read a story today where an 8th grade girl DIED just hours after testing positive for COVID and she was only in school for a week. Her death could have been prevented.

I truly fear our children will begin dying or getting sick in masses. And if that happens, schools will close again and we are back to square one. In the end, those deaths could have been avoided.

Oh, and let me be clear – my kids won’t be part of this experiment. They will be remote learning again this year.

But I also care about your kids. I care about you. That is what we are supposed to do. We need to care about one another instead of tearing each other down.

So, for the sake of everyone, I truly hope your children end up okay and do not get sick.
