LEGO gave La Catrina a flower-covered hat, a sweeping black dress, and two monarch butterflies. Then it made her more than 17 inches tall.
The LEGO Ideas La Catrina set is an adult building project with 1,212 pieces and enough tiny details to reward a closer look. At $139.99, this is definitely a clear-some-shelf-space purchase.
The dress deserves a closer look
Brick-built marigolds and printed sugar skulls decorate her hat and dress. More flowers surround the base, where one monarch butterfly sits. The other can rest in her hand.
Her head and arms move, too, so you can change the pose once the build is finished.
LEGO lists the set for ages 18 and up. The finished figure stands over 17 inches, or 43 centimeters, tall. Measure the space between your shelves before giving her a permanent address.
A Día de Muertos display
LEGO describes this as a display build for Day of the Dead celebrations, with a base that lets you keep her out year-round.
Our Día de Muertos guide has more on the traditions and ofrendas.
La Catrina is set number 21372. LEGO’s U.S. store currently lists it as available for $139.99.
