While Disney initially announced plans to release Maleficent 2 May 29, 2020 – we have some wickedly good news.
Disney has officially bumped up the date from Spring 2020 to Fall 2019. Yes, Maleficent 2 will be here soon than we thought – on October 18, 2019 and just in time for Halloween.

Did we mention it also has a new name? Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Yessss!
The sequel is described as:
“A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after Maleficent, in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, Maleficent II continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.”
It already sounds good and spooky – fitting perfectly with the theme of Halloween.
In addition to an updated release date and title, there is also new members of the cast.
While Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning are both returning as Maleficent and Princess Aurora, there are new cast members including:
Michelle Pfeiffer is playing a character named Queen Ingrith. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay, and Harris Dickinson as Prince Phillip. Meanwhile, original Maleficent stars Sam Riley as Diaval, Imelda Staunton as the pixie Knotgrass; Juno Temple as the pixie Thistlewit, and Lesley Manville as the pixie Flittle, are all returning.
We cannot wait and we are so excited to see the movie even sooner!
