There’s about to be a new McDonald’s on the block …
But, it’s not like the McDonald’s you’re used to.
The inspiration for this new restaurant concept is an old — pretty much forgotten about — McDonald’s character: CosMc, an alien from outer space.
If you’re like me, you have probably never heard of this CosMc. He is from the 1980s, and didn’t make a lasting impression like Ronald McDonald, Grimace, or Hamburglar.
But, McDonald’s is bringing him back in the form of a new restaurant.
Side Note: McDonald’s is all about leaning into the past lately. Just look at the hype around the Grimace Shake! It’s everywhere.
Not much is known about this new CosMc’s McDonald’s spinoff restaurant, but the new venture was announced this week during the company’s second-quarter earning call.
[CosMc’s will be a] small format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s, but with its own unique personality.

McDonald’s is saying that CosMc’s will be tested out in a “limited geography” in early 2024.
No information on specific markets was provided, but here’s hoping one opens near me! I can’t wait to see what they have planned for this new concept restaurant.
McDonald’s has an investor’s day in December, and they plan on announcing more info about the CosMc concept at that time.
