Have you ever watched the CCTV footage of Elisa Lam? It’s one of the creepiest things I have ever watched.

Elisa Lam’s disappeared from the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles back in 2013. She was a Canadian student that was only 21 years old.

All of her possessions were left in her hotel room.

The CCTV at the hotel captured her odd behavior before she disappeared.

On the footage, you can see her acting very strange and she is talking and gesturing right outside of the elevator doors.

It appears she is completely alone.

She went in and out of the elevator repeatedly. She would push a bunch of buttons, the doors would remain open and she would step out again.

Who Was She Hiding From?

When she was in the elevator she would place her back against the wall on the side as if she was hiding.

Her body was discovered 2 weeks after she disappeared.

No one knew what happened and her body was found in a water tank on top of the hotel. Um, how?

The documentary is called ‘Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel’. It is a 4 part series from Joe Berlinger, the executive producer, and director.

As a true crime documentarian, I was fascinated in 2013 when the elevator video of Elisa Lam went viral and legions of amateur detectives used the internet to try to solve the mystery of what happened to her, a 21-year-old Canadian tourist on her first trip to Los Angeles.

The Cecil Hotel Has History, And It’s Not a Good One

It gets even more interesting because this is not the only crime that has happened at the Cecil Hotel.

Richard Ramirez was said to reside at this same hotel once upon a time…

The fact that Elisa disappeared in a location that has a multi-decade history of crimes is what made her case fascinating to me.
