Amazon has put its October sale on the calendar: Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6 and 7, 2026. If your plan is to grab gifts or Halloween supplies without spending the whole week refreshing a deals page, the timing details are the useful part.
When does October Prime Day start?
The 48-hour event begins Tuesday, October 6 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time for eligible Prime members. That’s 3:01 a.m. Eastern. Amazon calls the sale Prime Big Deal Days, though shoppers often call it October Prime Day.
Amazon says new Today’s Big Deals drop at midnight, 8 a.m., and 1 p.m. PDT each day during the event. In Eastern time, those three drops are 3 a.m., 11 a.m., and 4 p.m. Supplies may be limited, and a new drop time does not mean every item on your list will be discounted.
How to tell whether a deal is actually good
- Choose your item and target price now. A discount badge is less useful than knowing the price you were willing to pay.
- Check price history on the product page. Amazon says its Price History link can show up to 365 days of pricing insights for hundreds of millions of products. Look at the actual selling price, not just the percent-off label.
- Set an alert if you can wait. Alexa for Shopping can track deals or a target price for a specific item. Confirm the final price and seller before you buy.
- Compare the full checkout cost. Check size, model, shipping and any coupon conditions so you are comparing the same product.
