Old El Paso just rolled out four new comfort-food products for fall, and the part that immediately got my attention is that two of them are broths.
The brand says its new lineup includes Birria Style Beef Broth, Chicken Tinga Style Broth, Chipotle Steak Burrito Style Soup, and Cheesy Beef Taco Style Soup.
Old El Paso now has Birria and Chicken Tinga broths
This is the part that feels especially useful. Old El Paso says the Birria Style Beef Broth is made with a smoky blend of chilis, garlic, and lime, while the Chicken Tinga Style Broth is designed as a savory cooking starter.
Instead of treating these like plain soup broth, the brand is positioning them for things like ramen, rice, pasta, soups, sauces, and stews. Old El Paso’s own recipe site is already using the birria broth in a Beef Birria Stew, which gives you a pretty good idea of what they are going for here.
I can also see these being one of those pantry shortcuts you keep around for nights when dinner needs to taste like you tried harder than you actually did.
There are also two new ready-to-eat soups
If you would rather skip the cooking part entirely, Old El Paso also added two canned soups.
Chipotle Steak Burrito Style Soup combines beef, rice, tomatoes, and corn. Old El Paso says it has 12 grams of protein per can.
Cheesy Beef Taco Style Soup includes beef patty crumbles, tomatoes, corn, jalapeño peppers, black beans, cheddar, and cream cheese. Old El Paso lists that one at 16 grams of protein per can.
The Cheesy Beef Taco-Style Soup is also listed on Old El Paso’s official site as an 18-ounce, ready-to-serve soup.
Where to find the new Old El Paso products
Old El Paso says all four products are available now at retailers nationwide. Exact stock is going to vary by store, so I would still check your local grocery app before making a special trip.
And if you are already in an Old El Paso mood, the brand has been getting increasingly chaotic with its releases. We previously covered the Old El Paso Stuffed Nachos, which are exactly as ridiculous as they sound.
Honestly, the broths are the thing I am most curious about here. They are weirdly specific, which is often where the best shortcut ingredients live.
