A tiny coffee cup made it onto Owala’s next bottle for a very specific reason: it represents the drink the artists ordered when they got together to work on the design.

That is the kind of detail worth turning the bottle around to find.

Owala’s Amor y Vida is a $39.99, 32-ounce stainless-steel FreeSip created with Yollocalli, the youth arts initiative of Chicago’s National Museum of Mexican Art. It launches Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Owala’s Color Drop schedule lists the release for 10 a.m. Mountain Time.

The black bottle has a bright blue carry loop, colorful papel picado artwork and dancing skeletons. Owala credits Ruth Garcia, Berenice Lopez, Jennifer Camargo, Bibiana Saucedo, Liz Reyes and Mario Mena on the product page.

In the brand’s behind-the-design feature, the team explains that fitting everyone’s intricate artwork around a curved bottle was a challenge. Their solution was to connect the individual pieces as papel picado on a single string.

Look closer and there’s a Xoloitzcuintli dog, cempasúchil flowers and the Aztec symbol for water. The artists describe the design as a celebration of love, memory and keeping loved ones close. The little coffee cup adds a piece of their own time together, too.

Check the delivery details before you order

The product page currently has a “Notify me” button ahead of the launch. This is an upcoming release, so the $39.99 listing does not mean you can buy one immediately.

And there’s a delivery catch worth knowing before drop day. Owala says Color Drops that sell out within an hour automatically open for backorders until 10 a.m. Mountain Time the following day. Those backorders are estimated to ship 10–12 weeks after purchase.

That timeline puts a backordered bottle well after this year’s Día de Muertos. If you want it for the celebration, check the actual shipping estimate when ordering. Owala also excludes Color Drops from discounts, so plan around the listed price.
