Some people want chocolate behind their Advent calendar doors. Some people want a pen pouch and permission to buy more stationery. Papier has found the second group.
The brand has two stationery countdowns on its U.S. site: a 24-day calendar for $195 and its first 12-day calendar for $95. Both are gift-level purchases. Nobody needs a nearly $200 calendar just to remember to buy milk.
What comes in the bigger calendar?
The 24-day edition combines mini and full-size stationery in reusable drawers. The listed contents include rollerball pens, fineliners, highlighters, notebooks, a recipe journal, a gratitude journal, sticky tabs, cards, a pen pouch, a mini jigsaw and playing cards.
Papier puts the contents’ value at over $375. That is the brand’s valuation, and the useful question is whether your person actually wants those things. If they already have strong opinions about pens, we may have a match.
The $95 version is a keepsake cottage
The 12-day calendar has opening drawers and a roof that lifts up. Inside are twelve stationery surprises, including three fineliners, mini notebooks, a mini gratitude journal, stickers, paper clips and a pen clip. Papier values this assortment at over $180.
I’d compare the contents before choosing. The smaller box is the more manageable gift; the bigger one is for someone who treats a stationery shop like a destination.

If you know someone who considers a fresh notebook a major life event, this is their kind of December.
