August 30th. That’s the date. Not September, not ‘when it starts to feel like fall,’ not when you’ve finally accepted that summer is over. August 30th.
Starbucks is bringing back the PSL — along with the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, the Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato, and a full lineup of fall snacks — earlier than you’re probably thinking. Thanks to @markie_devo on Instagram, we’ve got the details before Starbucks even officially announced it.
And yes, there’s a new cake pop. Let me tell you about the cake pop.
So what’s actually coming back to the Starbucks fall menu?
The heavy hitters are all returning: Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, and the Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato. If you’ve had all three before, you already know which one you’re ordering the second those doors open on August 30th.
The Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato had a bit of a glow-up when it was revamped — it’s got that brown sugar apple spiced syrup situation going on and it is genuinely one of the better additions Starbucks has made to the fall lineup in years. Don’t sleep on it.

Is the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew still worth the hype?
Yes. And I don’t say that lightly about anything that costs this much for a coffee.
The Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew is cold brew topped with pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice. It’s smooth, it’s not too sweet if you don’t add extra pumps, and it photographs beautifully if that’s important to you. No judgment. It is a little important to me.

What food is coming back for fall 2026?
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin. Pumpkin Scones. Both returning, both correct decisions by Starbucks.
The Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin specifically has a devoted following and honestly, rightfully so. It’s dense and spiced and the cream cheese situation in the middle is doing a lot of heavy lifting for a $4 muffin.
What is the new Owl Cake Pop and why am I thinking about it?
The new Owl Cake Pop is vanilla cake with buttercream, dipped in purple-colored chocolate icing, and decorated with an owl design. Purple. Chocolate. Icing.
That sounds like it was designed specifically to get people like me to stand at the counter for an extra 45 seconds deciding whether to add it to my order. (The answer is yes. Always add the cake pop.)
For context on how Starbucks approaches these seasonal launches — including how far in advance they plan and leak details — Delish has a solid breakdown of the fall menu rollout history worth reading if you’re as deep in the PSL lore as some of us are.

Why does Starbucks release the fall menu so early every year?
The short answer: because people go absolutely feral for it and starting in August means more sales than starting in September.
The longer answer is that Starbucks has basically trained an entire generation to associate pumpkin spice with the emotional feeling of fall — not the actual weather of fall. You can be sweating through a 95-degree afternoon and still want a PSL. That’s not an accident. That’s a very effective marketing strategy that I fully respect even as I recognize I’m a participant in it.
Some people will tell you early pumpkin spice is absurd and that we should wait until at least October. And look — I get that argument. There’s something to be said for seasonality meaning something. But also… it’s a latte. It’s not hurting anyone. And if it makes August feel slightly less brutal, I’m not going to be the one to argue against it.
When can you actually get it?
August 30th is the date. Mark it, set a reminder, do whatever you need to do.
If you’re the type who likes to be absolutely prepared — and again, no judgment, I deeply respect the preparation — check out everything worth ordering from Starbucks this fall because there are a few secret menu items that pair suspiciously well with the official lineup.
August 30th feels far away right now, but it’s coming faster than you think. And when it does, I’ll be the one in line before the person in front of me has even finished ordering.
The Owl Cake Pop is the wildcard here. Purple chocolate icing and an owl? That’s either going to be incredible or confusing, and either way I want to find out. But what do I know?
