Okay, so I am a fully grown adult woman who gets unreasonably excited about a blended beverage with edible glitter in it. I don’t know what to tell you.

The Unicorn Frappuccino broke the internet back in 2017 — and apparently broke a lot of baristas too, but we’ll get there. Now August 16 is circling around as the date it comes back, and I have done the homework so you don’t have to.

Does it actually taste good, or is it just pretty?

What if your Starbucks is out?

This is a genuine possibility and I’m sorry in advance. Limited drinks get allocated by location and some stores get way more than others.

If your spot is out: check a nearby location using the app, ask a barista if there’s any remaining powder or syrup and whether they can get close, or — and I know this stings — accept it gracefully and get a cold brew like a normal person.

Is it actually worth the hype?

We don’t always need our treats to be meaningful. Sometimes a pink and purple swirled drink that changes flavor when you stir it is just fun. And fun is enough. I’ve watched people be too cool to get excited about this drink and then quietly order one when nobody’s looking. Don’t be that person.
