A snack board sounds so simple until you realize you are buying three entire bags of dried fruit to fill three tiny spaces. Sun-Maid has a smaller-scale option, and I can get behind that kind of shortcut.
Sun-Maid Charcuterie Pairings come in four combinations of dried fruit, banana chips, and yogurt-covered raisins. Each box is 4.5 ounces total, with the components in separate pouches. You still bring the cheese, crackers, and anything else you want on the board.
What is in the four Sun-Maid Charcuterie Pairings boxes?
The choice mostly comes down to whether you want dried fruit alone or some yogurt-covered raisins in the mix:
- Dried Apricots, Blueberries & Cranberries: the fruit-only combination.
- Dried Apricots, Dried Blueberries & Vanilla Yogurt Covered Raisins: keeps the apricots and blueberries, with vanilla-coated raisins as the third component.
- Dried Cherries, Banana Chips & Chocolate Yogurt Covered Raisins: the only box in this lineup with banana chips.
- Dried Cranberries, Dried Cherries & Chocolate Yogurt Covered Raisins: the chocolate-raisin option if you would rather have cranberries than banana chips.
That 4.5-ounce size is for the whole box. This is a way to add a few little piles or bowls to a spread, so plan the rest of your shopping around how many people you are feeding.
How I would use them on a snack board
My starting point would be the apricot-blueberry-cranberry box alongside cheese and crackers, especially if I already had something chocolatey elsewhere on the table. For a movie-night spread with cookies or pretzels, I would be more tempted by one of the chocolate-raisin combinations.
Those are board-building ideas, not a taste test. The separate pouches also mean you can arrange everything in its own little bowl instead of pouring a mixed bag into one spot. Sun-Maid includes more pairing suggestions on the back of each box.
Where to find Sun-Maid Charcuterie Pairings
In its September 16 announcement, Sun-Maid says the line is available at select Walmart and Target locations, along with other retailers nationwide. That does not mean every store carries every combination, so check your local store’s inventory before making a special trip.
The announcement does not give a suggested retail price. Compare the price for the full 4.5-ounce box when you find it, particularly if you are deciding between one of these assortments and larger bags for a party.
For a small board, though? Having three different little additions already sorted is a pretty appealing idea.
