I think I may be part of a very small percentage of people that could NOT make it through the “Tiger King” documentary. I believe I made it through maybe one episode it just wasn’t my thing, I know… I’m odd!
But I do care tremendously about animals! So after seeing this news, I need to know if the animals are ok!
The zoo that was featured in the documentary just announced that it is closed to the public now. Some say that its federal animal exhibition license was suspended by the US Department of Agriculture.
The word is that the US Department of Agriculture has said that they suspended the exhibitor license for Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park as well as Jeffrey Lowe this past Monday. At least that is what CNN has reported.
However, according to a post on the park’s Facebook page, they say that they did not have their license taken away, but it had been suspended for 21 days and that on day 22 they could reopen.
It also stated that they voluntarily forfeited the licenses because he doesn’t want to run a zoo anymore.
Apparently the reports of a USDA inspection at Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park found many animal welfare violations, some of those being repeat violations.
Jeffrey Lowe has made Facebook posts that point to PETA being the cause of all of this. It’s hard to know the truth since we haven’t read the reports.
So what’s the truth? Do we need a new Netflix documentary to figure this out? I just hope the animals are all going to be ok! Have you ever visited the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park?
