It’s happening, people…
Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is headed back to the big screen!!
Top Gun 3 is reportedly in early development with Paramount, so we aren’t going to have to wait 35 years for a sequel this time!
We are told that the Top Gun 3 script is in the works, and this sequel to Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick is definitely a go.
Now, no actors have committed to the project yet, but the idea is that the producers — Tom Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer, and director Joseph Kosinski — will return.
Given the fact that this will be a sequel to Top Gun: Maverick, we would assume that Tom Cruise’s co-stars — Miles Teller and Glen Powell — would return.
And, of course, Tom Cruise, who is currently filming Mission: Impossible 8, would return.
It couldn’t be Top Gun without him, right?!?
According to CNN, “the script is not finalized, but a first draft is being developed by writer Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote Top Gun: Maverick.”
Mission: Impossible 8 is not slated to come out until May 2025, and Cruise has a pretty packed filming schedule, so we can expect that Top Gun 3 won’t happen anytime soon.
But, at least we can get excited knowing that the script is in the works!
We’ll let you know as soon as more news about Top Gun 3 drops.
