Okay, so I am that person who opens Amazon at 11pm to look up one thing and closes it two hours later having bought four things I didn’t know existed and cannot now imagine living without. Every single summer.
This year I went on a bit of a mission. I wanted to pull together the stuff that’s actually worth it — not the stuff that looks cute in a product photo and then arrives looking like a sad, deflated version of itself. Real stuff. Stuff I have in my cart, on my porch, or currently using.
So here are 20 Amazon summer finds that are genuinely dummy cool. Some are cheap, some are a little more of a splurge, all of them are things I would tell my actual friends about.
The outdoor living stuff you didn’t know you needed

If you spend any real time outside in the summer — even just on a porch or a little patio — there are a handful of things that make it so much better. String lights are obvious, yes, but the solar-powered ones that actually hold a charge? Game changer. No outlet hunting, no extension cords, just vibes.
A good outdoor rug is another one I never took seriously until I got one. It pulls the whole space together and makes your patio feel like a room instead of just a concrete slab where you go to sweat.
And if you don’t have a nice insulated tumbler situation happening yet, this is your sign. The ones that keep your iced coffee cold for literal hours in 95-degree heat are very real and very necessary.
Finds in this category to search:
- Solar-powered outdoor string lights (look for ones with a remote — trust me)
- Reversible outdoor rug, 5×7 or larger
- 40oz insulated tumbler with handle
- Portable outdoor fan with USB charging
Pool, beach, and “I’m getting in the water” gear
Here’s the thing about summer water stuff — so much of it is junk. Floats that deflate by day two, bags that claim to be waterproof but absolutely are not, sunscreen that pills up the second it touches water.
The stuff worth buying: a real waterproof dry bag (the kind kayakers use — they seal like a roll-top and nothing gets wet), a mesh beach bag that actually lets the sand fall out instead of living in the bottom forever, and a good rash guard if you’re someone who burns.
Also — and I talked about this back when I did my full summer packing list post — a compact beach blanket that stuffs into its own little pouch is one of those things you just can’t go back from. Way better than a towel.
Finds in this category to search:
- Roll-top waterproof dry bag, 10L
- Mesh beach tote bag with zipper pocket
- Quick-dry rash guard, UPF 50+
- Compact packable beach blanket
- Waterproof Bluetooth speaker
The kitchen and food stuff for summer entertaining

Summer entertaining hits different and also I want to spend zero time actually cleaning up. So I go hard on the things that make food and drinks easier.
A good popsicle mold is one of those $10 purchases that pays for itself the first week of June. You can make literally anything into a popsicle and your kids — or let’s be honest, you — will lose their minds over it.
A portable cooler that actually keeps things cold is worth the investment. Not a Yeti (unless you want one, no judgment), but the mid-range options on Amazon have gotten legitimately good.
And okay this one is kind of extra but: a watermelon slicer. I know. But have you seen how fast it works? You just press it down on a watermelon and out come perfect slices. Every. Single. Time.
Finds in this category to search:
- Silicone popsicle mold set
- Watermelon slicer/corer tool
- Soft-sided insulated cooler bag, 30L
- Outdoor melamine serving bowls set
- Manual lemonade slush maker (yes, this is real, yes it rules)
Summer skin and sun care worth actually buying
I am not here to lecture you about SPF. You already know. What I will tell you is that Amazon has some genuinely good options that are cheaper than what you’d grab at the drugstore and work just as well.
Mineral sunscreen sticks are having a moment and rightfully so — no white cast, no greasy residue, just rub it on and go. They’re especially great for your face.
After-sun gel with aloe is a forever staple, but the ones that have a little bit of a cooling agent in them — like cucumber or menthol — are just so much better than plain aloe. Put it in the fridge. You’re welcome.
Finds in this category to search:
- Mineral SPF 50 sunscreen stick, tinted
- After-sun cooling gel with aloe and cucumber
- Facial mist with SPF
- Vitamin C serum (summer skin needs it)
Outdoor activity stuff that’s actually fun
Okay this is my favorite category to fall down a rabbit hole in. Amazon has so much random outdoorsy activity stuff and some of it is genuinely brilliant.
A classic: bocce ball set. Every single summer gathering I’ve ever been to that had one of these, people ended up playing it for two hours and didn’t even realize it. Easy to learn, weirdly competitive, works on any grass surface.
For solo or small group fun — a spikeball set is legitimately the most entertaining backyard game I’ve seen in years. I wrote about this in my post about backyard games that aren’t boring and people still message me about it.
Also: glow-in-the-dark versions of basically everything exist on Amazon. Glow frisbees, glow ring toss, glow cornhole sets. If you’re the type of household that stays outside until 9pm, this is where you’re spending your money this summer.
Finds in this category to search:
- Bocce ball set with carrying case
- Spikeball game set
- Glow-in-the-dark ring toss game
- Giant Jenga outdoor game set
The “travel and on-the-go” summer must-haves

Road trips, weekend getaways, trips to the lake — summer involves a lot of hauling yourself and your stuff from one place to another. These are the things that make that less of a nightmare.
A really good packing cube set. I know you’ve heard this before but if you aren’t using packing cubes you are living in chaos and I say that with love. The compression ones are especially great for fitting more into a smaller bag.
A collapsible water bottle — the kind that folds flat when empty — is genuinely useful when you’re hiking or at a theme park and don’t want to carry a big bottle all day.
Travel-size everything is available on Amazon and cheaper than at the airport, just FYI. Stock a little travel bag at the beginning of summer and you’re set for every trip.
Finds in this category to search:
- Compression packing cubes, set of 6
- Collapsible silicone water bottle
- Portable charger, 20,000mAh (the big one — you want the big one)
- Travel-size toiletry set
- Car backseat organizer for road trips
Summer fashion finds that don’t break the bank
Amazon fashion gets a bad rap and honestly some of it deserves it, but there are gems if you know what you’re looking for. The key is checking the reviews and looking at the customer photos — not the staged product shots.
Linen-blend pants and shorts have been all over my explore page and the Amazon dupes are genuinely cute. Look for ones with a relaxed fit and an adjustable waist because linen doesn’t lie.
Sandals are another hit-or-miss but the Amazon brand ones — especially the ones that look like a certain expensive Italian pair — are holding up way better than they have any right to at that price point.
A good oversized linen button-down that you can throw over a swimsuit is basically the summer uniform and you do not need to spend $80 on one from a boutique.
Finds in this category to search:
- Linen-blend wide-leg pants
- Strappy flat sandals with ankle strap
- Oversized linen shirt/beach cover-up
- Square-neck swimsuit one-piece
The random ones that are just kind of genius
This is my actual favorite section — the weird little things you stumble on that you didn’t know existed and now you can’t stop thinking about.
A clip-on book light that’s rechargeable and has like eight brightness settings. This sounds boring and I do not care because summer nights on the porch with a book and good lighting is a whole thing.
Sticky notes that are waterproof. For sunscreen, bug spray, reminders on the cooler. Don’t ask me why I didn’t think of this sooner.
A handheld fan with a little misting feature. Tiny, fits in a bag, runs on USB, blows a gentle cool mist on your face. I’ve seen people at outdoor concerts with these and always thought they were extra. Narrator: they were correct.
And honestly — a really good citronella candle that doesn’t smell like a bug-zapper factory. They exist on Amazon and your summer evenings will thank you. In my summer entertaining tips post I talked about making your outdoor space actually enjoyable and this is a big piece of it.
Finds in this category to search:
- Rechargeable clip-on book light
- Handheld misting fan, USB rechargeable
- Citronella candle set for outdoor use
- Waterproof sticky notepad
- Reusable ice cubes that won’t dilute your drink
Look, I don’t know your life or your porch or how many floats you’ve already deflated this season. But I do know that summer goes fast and the right stuff makes it better.
These are the things I’d actually put in my cart — not a sponsored roundup of things I’ve never touched. Just 20 finds that are worth your time and your eleven-pm Amazon scroll.
Go forth. Buy the watermelon slicer. You won’t regret it.
