It has FINALLY happened. After months and months of negotiations, arguments, and a lack of agreement, Congress has finally agreed on a new stimulus package.

Honestly, it’s about time.

As of today, Congress has reached a deal on a $900 billion coronavirus relief package.

Now, I am sure you are wondering – does this include a new stimulus check for everyone? The good news is, it does. The bad news is, it’s half of what it was before.

“At long last, we have the bipartisan breakthrough the country has needed,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said on the Senate floor Sunday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called the plan a “package that delivers urgently needed funds to save the lives and livelihoods of the American people as the virus accelerates.”

According to reports, the stimulus package includes $600 to most adults and $600 per child, Pelosi and Schumer said in a statement.

Basically, if you received a stimulus check before, you will be getting another one.

In addition to the stimulus check, The Democrats said it would put $284 billion into Paycheck Protection Program small business loans, and include funds for loans from small and minority-owned lenders. It would direct another $20 billion to small business grants and $15 billion to live event venues.

It would also add a $300 federal unemployment supplement and temporarily keep in place pandemic-era programs that expanded unemployment insurance eligibility.

It also puts money into hospitals, vaccines, and and things like transportation.

While the bill is far from perfect and more money is definitely needed in the future, we are at least seeing some movement on this before the end of the year.

The bill is headed to President Trump’s desk for expected approval before midnight Sunday and they expect the bill to pass on Monday, December 21.

No word on when stimulus checks would be sent but let’s hope it would be asap!
