To say I’m addicted to the delicious drink that is a Chick-fil-A ‘Sunjoy’ would be an understatement. So, I’m sharing how to make a Copycat Chick-fil-A Sunjoy at home!

When I drive up to Chick-fil-A, they know my car. They call me by name. Yes, I know they call EVERYONE by name, but they know my name before I tell them.

If I miss a couple days, they ask me where I’ve been.

I might go a little too often.

You know it’s a problem when I buy three — sometimes four — gallons of the good stuff a week, and perpetually have it in my refrigerator for easy access.

But, here recently, I have started to think — and feel a little guilty.

A gallon of ‘Sunjoy’ is like 10 bucks a pop. Sure, it doesn’t feel like much each time I visit Chick-fil-A — but that’s $30-$40 I’m spending — PER WEEK — on my vice.

That’s freakin’ $120-$160 a month on ‘Sunjoy’!! Unacceptable! Much like the Amazon boxes at Christmas, I don’t want my husband finding out.

So, I decided to make my own version of my favorite drink.

It’s totally easy, and saves me more than half the money I was spending per month at Chick-fil-A.

How To Make A Copycat Chick-fil-A ‘Sunjoy’

Are you ready for this? Grab a pen and paper.

There are technically four whole ingredients, but it really feels like two — Sweet Tea and Lemonade.

Ingredients:

I find that the easiest — and cheapest — thing to do is make the tea and buy the lemonade.

Sure, you can make the lemonade — but that takes time and dirties up dishes. I’m too lazy for that!

Directions:

Brew up 8 cups of black tea (I use 1 regular tea bag per cup of water)

Pour the tea into a big pitcher

Add 2 cups of sugar (or to taste)

Add half a gallon of good lemonade — I like Simply Lemonade the best

Dump in some ice to fill up the pitcher

Stir it all up

Refrigerate

Voila! You have homemade Sunjoy.

How To Make Lemonade For The Copycat ‘Sunjoy’

If you don’t have any lemonade, and you insist on making your own, it’s pretty easy.

There are Three ingredients needed to make lemonade:

  • 3 Cups Lemon Juice — about 12 medium-sized lemons
  • 5 Cups Water
  • 2 Cups Sugar — more or less depending on how you like it

Directions:

  • Squeeze those lemons. I like a ton of lemon pulp in mine, but you do you. Take out the seeds.
  • Pour the lemon juice into a big pitcher, and add the water and sugar.
  • Stir it all together.
  • Taste it, and adjust the ingredients as needed.

To make the Sunjoy at this point, add your lemonade to the 8 cups of brewed tea. Finish as directed above.

Now, I’m not going to say that this is the best drink ever — but I’m addicted to the sweet, delicious taste of this Sweet Tea and Lemonade concoction.

How Do You Make A Copycat ‘Sunjoy’ Diet Friendly?

I won’t lie and tell you it’s going to taste as good, but a diet friendly version of the drink will do in a pinch.

You would just use UnSweet Tea, and buy a Diet Lemonade (or make a homemade version with Splenda).

The proportions of the ingredients are the same: 8 cups of UnSweet Tea and 8 cups of Diet Lemonade.

Try either version of Copycat Sunjoy for yourself, and tell us what you think in the comments below.
