Disney World Just Cancelled Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and I’m So Sad About It
I have some more disappointing news from the world of Walt Disney World.
Every year thousands of people plan for, and look forward to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The Magic Kingdom shuts early on these days, and you can buy special tickets to this after-hours Fun Festival of Not-So-Scary proportions.
BUT, not this year. Thanks alot, 2020. You suck.
Because of the whole coronavirus pandemic, Disney has decided to shut down EVERYTHING that draws a crowd: parades, fireworks, character meet-and-greets — AND NOW, they have killed Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year.
I know, I’m not happy either. This is one of my favorite times of year to go to the parks. Everything Disney is all decorated Halloween-y, they have special food, and even not-so-spooky souvenirs.
This event usually draws kids, of the young and old variety, dressed in halloween costumes, there is trick-or-treating, special fireworks, special parades, special character meet-and-greets, and special halloween shows and music.
It typically lasts from mid-August until about the first week or two in November. BUT, don’t even think about planning on going this year. It is just going to have to be one of those disappointing things that you have to plan for in the future. At least it will give you something to look forward to NEXT year!
“We determined that many of its hallmarks — stage shows, parades and fireworks — are unable to take place in this new, unprecedented environment,” a post on the official Disney Parks Blog said in announcing the changes.

Now, if you love the Food and Wine festival — usually happening in September — it is actually going to start up when the parks open in July, and last on into the fall. There is no end date as of yet. It is simply to be determined.
If you are wondering how the heck they are going to hold this festival — as it is usually too crowded to walk through Epcot during the festival — we are just going to have to see what happens. I’m sure they will keep it as safe as possible for the guests and Cast Members.
Disney has ALSO cancelled their Eat To The Beat concert series this year. This is a series that showcases dozens of acts — like I saw Davy Jones there one year. Don’t be jealous. Alas, it draws too big of a crowd to go risk it this year.
One of my brother’s favorites — Disney H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon — has also be canned for the rest of the year.
No word about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas at Magic Kingdom, or the processional at Epcot. We will update you as we know more.
So, basically, hurry up and get here, 2021. I’m ready for this 2020 nonsense to be over.
