Zero is trapped in a portrait, and Oogie Boogie’s first solution is another trick. Complete The Ghost in the Portrait to free him.
Start the quest
Finish The Oogie Boogie Contract, collect the mailbox ticket, and enter Scrooge’s Strange Mirror.
Free Zero
- Inspect the portrait and complete its Memory puzzle. Give Oogie Boogie the ticket.
- Ask Scrooge for help, then place his gift box at the sparkling spot beside the right staircase downstairs.
- Use your pickaxe on the Lucky Wheel upstairs. Collect five cogs and Ghostly Paint Thinner.
- Apply the thinner from your inventory and water the portrait. Speak with Oogie Boogie and try the real portrait.
- Ask Merlin for help. Return and interact with five Zero drawings downstairs to gather five Zero Essence.
- Craft Real Ghostly Paint Thinner, apply it from your inventory, and water the correct portrait. Speak with Oogie Boogie to finish.
Why won’t the first thinner work?
It isn’t the real version. You need the five Essence and crafted replacement. Zero becomes a permanent companion; Oogie Boogie still requires later quests.
