Disney Dreamlight Valley is adding door-to-door trick-or-treating this October. Your clue that a house is handing out candy? A jack-o’-lantern outside. Apparently even the Valley has a porch-light equivalent, and that is ridiculously cute.

The Trick or Treat event runs October 14–31, 2026, with new Halloween Town exterior decorations among this year’s rewards. The Haunted Floating Festival is already open, with puzzles and more seasonal decorations.

Here’s what to put on your October calendar, because these are two different events.

October 14: Look for the houses with pumpkins outside

Gameloft’s Season of Scares patch notes confirm two ways to collect Trick-or-Treater’s Bounty: find it around the Plaza, or go door to door at houses with a jack-o’-lantern outside.

That second option is new for this year. When the event begins, the pumpkin-marked homes are the ones to look for on your candy rounds.

The new rewards include exterior decorations inspired by Halloween Town from The Nightmare Before Christmas. So if your decorating plan is “make the whole place look like Jack Skellington might live here,” this is the event to watch.

How to enter the Haunted Floating Festival

The Haunted Floating Festival runs October 7–31, 2026. To reach the Floating Island, use the portal in the Plaza or the Event tab. Gameloft’s October 7 festival guide confirms both routes and warns that some puzzles may need items from your Valley.

This year’s new mystery takes you inside a Haunted Mansion inspired by the Magic Kingdom attraction. A haunted house with furniture rewards feels like a very reasonable use of October.

The dates worth keeping straight

  • October 7: Returning festival puzzles and the first Haunted Mansion puzzles open.
  • October 14: The separate Trick or Treat event begins, including door-to-door candy collecting.
  • October 18: The final Haunted Mansion mystery opens, including the Ghost Hunt.
  • October 31: Both the Haunted Floating Festival and Trick or Treat finish.

If you arrive before October 18, there is a reason you can’t do everything yet. Start with the available puzzles, then come back for the final mystery.

New Haunted Mansion puzzles and rewards

Here’s what Gameloft has revealed about the new challenges:

  • Find the Haunted Key: Your goal is to collect two fragments and craft the key that opens the Bedroom. The search involves Lion Statues, chests, Jack-o’-Lanterns and a ghostly fox.
  • Haunted Library: Put the spooky books on their correct shelves to uncover more of the mansion’s story and earn a Chomping Chest.
  • Release the Curse: Mansion clues lead into a combination puzzle, a Missing Page and a magical book to restore. Completing it earns a Decorative Magic Seal.
  • Ghost Hunt, beginning October 18: Find and photograph 10 ghosts around the festival grounds. Catching all 10 with your camera earns a furniture reward.

There’s also a hidden key that leads to a secret Basement and another furniture item. Gameloft leaves those two surprise furniture rewards unnamed in its guide.

The returning challenges involve a ghostly critter, a combination puzzle, the Terror-rific Tree, a cauldron and a haunted armor quiz. Their rewards include the Clawed Foot Tub, Haunted Festival Dress, Terror-rific Tree, Black Cauldron and Haunted Armor.

A few island rules before you go

You can take photos on the festival grounds, but you can’t submit DreamSnaps there or redecorate the island in edit mode. Some Royal Tools may be unavailable, although puzzle obstacles and certain decorative objects remain interactive.

When you need to head home, use the wishing well or open your map to return to the Valley.

Keep Oogie Boogie’s deadline separate

Oogie Boogie’s six-week questline has its own schedule. Gameloft says you need to begin his first quest before November 4 to keep completing the chain at your own pace. That later deadline belongs to his quests; the festival and Trick or Treat end October 31.

If you’re working on that storyline, our Oogie Boogie and Zero unlock guide explains the weekly timing, and our Oogie Boogie Contract walkthrough covers Week 2.
