‘Friends’ Creators Say There Will Never Be A Reboot, Here’s Why
I adore ‘Friends’ and it’s something my husband and I have watched all the way through several times and with that being said, I’d be lying if I were saying I wasn’t secretly hoping there’d be some sort of ‘Friends’ reunion or reboot.

But now, I just learned that the ‘Friends’ Creators Say There Will Never Be A Reboot and the reason entirely makes sense (and I completely respect it). Here’s why…
In a recent interview with the shows creators; Marta Kauffman and David Crane, it was brought up how many had hopes of a Friends reboot since the show celebrated their 25th Anniversary and their response was:

“The reason we won’t do a reunion is this is a show about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you start having a family, that changes. So it wouldn’t be what’s at that the heart of the show anymore,” Kauffman said. “The other reason is, it’s not going to beat what we did.”
I mean, that is pretty blunt and straight to the point and I totally get it.
With a show like Friends that was good all the way through, how can you beat something like that? I already feel it had the topping on the cake so to speak.
“We really feel like we did the show we wanted to do and we got it right,” Crane added. “If you visited those characters now, it would just have a different DNA, and chances are, it wouldn’t be as good a show. Why go back to the well?”
He’s truly not wrong.
Friends is such a great show because they got it right the first time. If they were to reboot it, I am sure so many diehard fans (like myself) would complain and think it would be too different from the original.
Sometimes things are better left untouched and I have to agree with the creators on this one.
While we can’t ever expect a reboot, we can sure binge watch Friends for the 10th time and enjoy every second of it and for that, I thank the creators and actors for making a masterpiece from the beginning.
