There is a magick shop inside a vault at COATI. An actual vault doorway, exposed brick, and shelves full of things to look at. Downtown Colorado Springs, you have my attention.

I stopped by The Green Magick Vault on September 11 and met Carol. I brought my camera, and this is one of those places where showing you the room makes a lot more sense than trying to fit it all into a sentence.

A little tour of the vault

Start with the entrance. The heavy doorway frames the shelves inside, with brick around it and dried greenery overhead. The shop makes use of the space itself: you are stepping through the vault opening to reach the displays.

Then look up. Tarot cards hang in long rows against a wall of exposed brick and plaster, with ribbons and knotted rope running between them. It turns a deck into a whole wall display.

On the shelves, I photographed black zodiac candle holders with gold designs, bright taper candles sorted by color, little beehive-shaped candles, and bars of soap. There is a lot happening in a small area, so the close-ups help.

There is a kitchen side to the magick, too. The Seasoned Sorcery display has rows of herb and spice blends. You can see names like Ironspell, High Desert Hearth, and Angara Masala on the jars in my photo.

The shop’s website calls the space a metaphysical shop and modern botanica. Its range includes botanical body care, loose herbs, teas, crystals, ritual tools, and artisan goods. My visit here was a look around the shop; the photos show the displays I saw.

Keep an eye out for Hex and Harvest

Carol also told me about an upcoming Hex and Harvest Fest during my visit. For announcements and the confirmed event details, follow Open Circle Events Colorado, the event company she co-owns with Jazmine Ramirez.

And if you are building a downtown wandering day, my visit to the Sunday Market at Acacia Park is another stop to read about. Different stop, more local discoveries.
