These ghost nails are tiny, wide-eyed and very concerned about something. The whole nail is the ghost: a white base, two round eyes and one little black mouth. No haunted-house mural required.
What you need
- White nail polish
- Black nail polish
- A dotting tool or small nail-art brush
- A smaller dotting tool or toothpick for the pupils
- Clear top coat
How to paint these ghost nails
- Paint the whole nail white. Follow your polish’s directions for coats and drying time. The white nail itself makes the ghost, so you do not need a dark background.
- Add two black eye circles. Place them side by side near the cuticle end of the nail, leaving room below for the mouth.
- Give the eyes their googly look. Once the black is dry, put a smaller white dot inside each eye, leaving a black edge. Add a tiny black pupil inside the white. Point both pupils the same way, or let one wander.
- Paint the mouth. Add a small black oval below the eyes. Make it taller for a shocked ghost or shorter for a less dramatic one.
- Finish with top coat. Let the face dry first so the brush does not pull black streaks through the white base.
One ghost is enough
Keep one or two ghost accent nails and paint the others black, purple or white. If the layered eyes feel too fiddly, two simple black dots still give the little face plenty of expression.
