Yes, Walt Disney World is closed as of March 15th. I know a lot of people are super bummed right now, with Spring Break plans and stuff. But it is what it is. So what about refunds?

After the announcement, people were digging for more info, which actually crashed Walt Disney World’s official website. There were also so many calls that the phone lines were just busy. It was chaos.

To get the info out Walt Disney World has posted a short FAQ page to address the concerns. But I’ll cover a bit of it below for you.

One of the main questions people are asking is will they get a refund on their tickets.

Disney says that unexpired multi-day theme park tickets with unused days, or date-specific theme park tickets with a start date on or before March 31, 2020, will automatically be extended to use any date through December 15, 2020.

If you are can not visit by December 15, 2020, you may apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date.

Now, if you purchased tickets for special events such as Disney After Hours, Disney Villains After Hours and Disney Early Morning Magic, then yes. As long as it is for dates falling from March 16, 2020, through March 31, 2020. Those will be automatically refunded.

Your annual passes? Well, those will be extended for the same number of days that the parks are closed. So you will not lose days!

If you have a stay booked for a Walt Disney World Resort between March 16th and March 31st, 2020 you can change it or even cancel it before your check-in date. If you don’t do that, then they will automatically give a refund within 7 days of the check-in date you had.

If you did NOT book through Disney directly, you will need to contact whoever you booked with!

When the parks reopen and you decide you just don’t want to go anymore, well you can cancel. Normally they have a change and cancellation fee, but they are waiving those fees for now. This applies only up to the date of check-in until June 30, 2020.
