Joe Potter Is Disney’s Famous Pest Controller
Walt Disney met a man named Joe Potter back in 1964. At the time, the man had an extensive knowledge about pest control after dealing with the swarms of mosquitoes carrying malaria. It was his knowledge that lead Walt to hire Joe on the spot.

Running Water Is Everywhere
One of the things mosquitoes love is standing water so they can lay their eggs. That is why you may notice that Disney parks have all sorts of fountains and running water. It was made intentionally to keep these pesky insets at bay.

The Architecture of Buildings
The design of Disney parks is much more than aesthetic. In fact, the design of the buildings was also made around the ideas that standing water couldn’t stay and would instead drain away from the buildings and rides. Again, also working to keep the mosquitoes away.

Liquid Garlic Spray
Okay, the most brilliant idea of all is the spray they use around the parks. It isn’t chemically made pesticides. Nope, it’s more of a natural spray made from liquid garlic.

Walt was very adamant about not using pesticides around his parks so this natural alternative was made.
But how can you never smell garlic, after all, garlic has a very strong and distinct smell.
Well, according to reports, the amount that they use is so small that humans can’t smell it, but mosquitoes are very susceptible to it. In fact, mosquitoes notoriously can’t stand the smell of garlic, so Disney sprays an extract of it around the parks.
I bet the next time you visit a Disney Park you’ll be looking around to see if you can spot any of these blood sucking bugs, huh?
