The Mummy goes for the pop-up scare
In Gemmy’s September 4 announcement, the Mummy starts with its head lowered. Sound or motion activates it, making the head pop up and the eyes glow red. It also speaks spooky phrases.
The wrapping and upright shape give this one the classic haunted-house look. The surprise comes from that lowered head suddenly moving, so think about whether a jump-scare-style greeter is what you want beside your front door.
The Pumpkin Skeleton reaches toward the treats
The Pumpkin Skeleton has a jack-o’-lantern head, exposed bones and a dark cloak. Gemmy says its head turns from side to side, its eyes glow, and it delivers eerie phrases.
Its extra trick is a hand that drops toward the candy as someone reaches into the bowl. Apparently, even the skeleton would like to discuss how many pieces you are taking.
