Princess Donut has me in a chokehold, so this is a casting detail I very much wanted to know: Jeff Hays is bringing his Donut voice to the Dungeon Crawler Carl TV adaptation.
Matt Dinniman’s official site confirmed the news on July 27, 2026, following Hays’ announcement at San Diego Comic-Con. This is an existing announcement worth catching up on, not a new casting reveal today.
Yes, the audiobook’s Donut
The announcement says Hays will reprise Princess Donut for television. If the audio version is how you got attached to her, that is a lovely bit of continuity to have going into an adaptation.
I love reading along while I listen. Having a voice you already associate with a character carry over is a very appealing starting point for me.
A casting announcement is not a premiere date
The author’s announcement says more details are still to come. It does not give a release date, streaming destination or complete cast. Keep those questions separate from the confirmed voice role.
For now, the official announcement also links Soundbooth Theater clips featuring Hays as Donut. Those are audio-performance material, not a trailer for the television show.
